The Employees Trust Fund (EPF) and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will continue as separate entities.This assurance was given by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today. The Prime Minister said that the EPF and ETF will operate as separate entities under the Central Bank. He insisted that the country is now undergoing a transformation with no threats or fear, the media having full freedom and independent commissions in place. (Colombo Gazette) He said that he had talks with the unions on their concerns. The Prime Minister said that the Central Bank will have talks with the EPF and ETF boards and discuss the future and take the proposals to the unions. The Prime Minister said that some members in the opposition continue to follow the old Parliament culture by simply opposing everything.However he said the intention of the new Government is to make the entire Parliament a Government by obtaining the support of all MPs. Earlier there were reports the ETF and EPF will be merged. The Prime Minister told Parliament today that unions had fair concerns over the ETF and EPF funds.
